Why would a heterosexual woman who plays the “central role” in her family and someone who deeply respects agricultural labor and good products and disgusted by waste throw away an entire unopened box of Barilla pasta?

It has already been bought, but from this point on you can decide who you will or will not buy from and maybe someone could have a meal or foodsource they might not otherwise have.

Nope. I was hoping someone would ask. Sometimes you have to make a point. No one should have to eat bigotry. I donate regularly and spread the word about hungry people in our community more than most people, and unjust hunger is one of the things that bothers me the most about the world. Believe me, it was hard to do. But, as ee cummings once said, “there is some shit i will not eat,” or feed others. I can’t bear the thought of anyone else eating it, either.

You already paid for the product. You are giving them free advertising. And you’re wasting food. You’re doing it wrong. Don’t waste and don’t buy anymore. Throwing it away is just stupid and worse than the statement you’re trying to make.

Yes, I’m clearly the tyrannical force operating here. For those of you who are disturbed by wasting a box of pasta, I’d suggest you donate an extra bag of food to your local shelter tomorrow and explain why you are doing it. Or better yet, sign up to volunteer. Let your anger at my protest spur you into action.

Clearly, you can do what you want with the pasta you have already bought, and I am not angry. Anyone can do anything with things they have earned money to buy. (of course within reason)
I was just making a practical suggestion responding to your first paragraph because it seemed like an oxymoron and didn’t make logical sense ie you said you have a certain philosophy about food, then did the exact opposite.
