it’s that aged gouda cheese they don’t have anymore

OK, this is too perfect an accompaniment to today’s melancholia to pass it by.  Please, if you would, compare and contrast:

I found the latter thanks to a post on Culinate.  I hope you find this as amusing as I did.  “Waters of March” is one of my favorite songs, and Elis Regina’s version absolutely the best.  And Trader Joe’s ain’t bad either.  Happy March, y’all.

That’s funny! I love Brazilian music.

The TJs film made me laugh heartily — I just enriched the Eugene economy greatly yesterday at TJ’s, stocking up on all the stuff we live on (emphasis on the utterly delicious cheese & chili tamales, and on the “addictive as crack” apple juice which E is pouring down his neck like he was just back from a month in the Sahara).

Going from there to the South Eugene Bi-Mart was as interesting a case of cultural whiplash as I’ve ever experienced.

Oh, and… as you know, I share your Waters of March adoration, and that Regina/Jobim version is my favorite version ever. There are a lot of people who could fuck and not make it as sexy as those two singing.
